Seventeen people received professional broker certificates on Monday at a ceremony held at the Lao Securities Exchange (LSX) in Vientiane, after completing a training course.
LSX Chairman & CEO, Associate Prof. Dethphouvang MOULARAT, presented the certificates to the successful candidates, who had completed the 2nd Program-Lao Professional Investment Banking I.
Only 17 out of 66 trainees passed the exam, with classes taking place on weekends from October 4 to November 9.
Five out of the 15 people who had taken the first part of the course also completed this course.
The course is useful for administrator and those working in the investment field who are interested in working in capital markets.
The certificate presentation ceremony was attended by Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business Management (FEBM) of National University of Laos (NUOL), Associate Prof. Somchith SOUKSAVATH, and CEO of APMLAO Securities Company Ltd (APMLAO), Mr. Somphob SAKPANPANOM.
Course Participants came from private and government agencies such as Lao Securities Commission Office (LSCO), LSX, BCEL-KT Securities Com. Ltd., Lao-China Securities Com., Ltd., BCEL, EDL-Gen Public Company, Dao Heuang Group, Joint Development Bank, ETL Public Company, French Development Agency and so on.
Those who completed the course will now be able to pass on their know-how to the younger generation and will be equipped for regional and international integration.
The programme is run jointly by the LSX, FEBM and APMLAO.
The course covers aspects of accounting, financial statement analysis, and other financial fields, which is of practical use for managers, investors and professionals in the capital market.
Topics were related to the mechanism and structure of financial markets, financial information and analysis, financial products and evaluation in capital market, role of brokers and securities trading, foreign investment in Laos, investment banking, role of the LSCO, corporate governance, financial strategies and portfolio investment, including the regulations, decrees and laws regarding the securities market.
Lectures were given by experienced trainers from Laos and Thailand.
Course participants also visited the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), securities companies, investment banking firms, and SET’s listed companies to observe the actual operation of those companies.
